This is a function intended to print a ramp-ready DHL label, instead of manually filling out a DHL International Waybill. The label that prints is much more compact / less complex than the labels printed for other carriers.
Click FILE | Shipping Setup | Carrier | DHL on your Server machine
Confirm that your DHL account number is entered.
Confirm that the dot is next to XML.
Click SAVE, DONE
When you select a DHL Service as mode of shipment, you will:
Be prompted to designate a return address (see below)
A shipment commodities screen will appear. Fill out the information appropriate to this shipment.
For assistance in filling out the information needed for the destination country, contact DHL.
Two labels may print.
The first label is to be applied to the box/envelope.
The second label is your proof of shipment. It needs to be retained by you. It is not applied to the box. This is similar to your copy of a multi part form on a manual waybill.
A tracking number for the shipment will also be printed on the customer’s receipt and recorded in ReSource.
Because DHL ships to countries under U.S. embargo, you must proactively state whether the shipment is subject to customs duties, or not. This is done on the dimensional entry screen.
When you select Dutiable, you will get DHL package rates only. If you select Non-Dutiable, you will get rates for DHL Document and Document Letter. You will never get rates for all three DHL services.
As part of the DHL Label Printing, DHL/RSA requested that we add the ability for you to use your Customer’s address as the return address on the Package Label.
When you process a DHL international shipment, you will see a new style of the Address Entry screen that allows you set the Return address.
The default selection when you first enter this screen will be to use your Store’s Address, with the Attention line set to the Shipped For Name from the Shipping Address; this is the standard Return address for the other Carriers.
You may make an alternate selection if you wish. If you have not previously selected a Customer, clicking the ”r;Click Here to Change Current Customer: …” button will show the Customer Selection screen and allow you select one at this step. If you select the Customer’s Billing or Physical address, and that has not been previously entered, you may fill that in and clicking Save Changes will update it in the Customer Information record. You can also change the default Return Address type that is displayed when you enter this screen. Simply make a new selection, and click the ”Set the Default Address type to use to the current selection” button.
For all DHL services, the shipping label will display an account number that is different from your DHL account number. This number is used by DHL for their internal reporting to properly bill the shipment as part of the RSA Partners program. You will still be billed individually; your account number is transmitted to DHL electronically as part of the shipment request.
DHL does not require that Commodity details be transmitted, just the total Customs Value.
When processing DHL packages, the Duties/Taxes Pay Type can no longer be changed from Receiver. Receiver as pay type is the only payment type that is supported by DHL in the current RSA/DHL business model. Shipments requiring any other Pay Type should be shipped by other means in consultation with DHL/RSA.
In some rare cases, it may be necessary to manually process a shipment using a waybill. We have added the ability to record manual shipments through the Other Carrier screen, and record them as a DHL shipment for Reporting and Bill Reconciliation.
